The State legislature has considered, but failed to adopt legislation that would prohibit texting while driving throughout the State of Arizona. Therefore, local jurisdictions must determine individually whether to adopt an ordinance to prohibit texting while driving. If approved by the Board of Supervisors, this ordinance would be effective throughout the unincorporated areas of Yavapai County, and within the jurisdictional boundaries of any city or town that chooses to adopt the ordinance.
If you would like to voice your opinion, the meeting will be held in Cottonwood at the Yavapai County Board Room located at 10 South 6th Street. The final hearing and adoption meeting will be held on October 3, 2018 at the Board of Supervisors meeting in Prescott.
