PRELIMINARY REPORT - At approximately 2:40 AM on September 11, 2012, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to an area near MP 17 on Crown King Road regarding a single vehicle accident. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the front end of a red Ford pick-up sitting on top of a bridge railing. Below the bridge, the body of 32-year-old Clinton Gwinn, a resident of Mayer, was found. Gwinn was the truck’s driver who apparently fell from the vehicle approximately 40’ after exiting the disabled truck.
There were 2 passengers with Gwinn who escaped uninjured and were interviewed extensively as part of the investigation. Detectives were called to the scene and continue to review the circumstances leading to Gwinn’s death. Intoxicating liquor is a likely factor.
