National non-profit KaBOOM! has designated the Town of Prescott Valley a Playful City USA for the third year. Playful City USA honors cities and towns across the country for putting the needs of families first so kids can learn, grow and develop important life skills.
The 2017 Playful City USA recognition includes 258 communities that make it as easy as possible for kids to play. In total, these communities feature more than 14,000 safe and engaging playspaces that serve more than 4 million kids.
In Prescott Valley, that means the Town’s Parks and Recreation offerings, which include everything from youth and adult sports leagues, recreational classes such as yoga, ballet and exercise, and large community events such as Polar Bear Splash, EGGstravaganza, Family Arts Festival, Movies Under the Stars, and Festival of Lights. Other play opportunities include parks and new playgrounds throughout the community, fishing, hiking trails, swimming and swim lessons, among many more.
“We are thrilled to recognize Prescott Valley for putting kids first,” said KaBOOM! CEO James Siegal. “The well-being of our communities starts with the well-being of our kids, and play is critical for them to thrive.”
This award reflects our mission,” said Prescott Valley Parks & Recreation Director Brian Witty. “That is to build a better, more wholesome and enriching community through parks and programs.”
