Proceeds benefit Yavapai Humane Society

For the second year in a row, Yavapai Humane Society has an online auction associated with the Reigning Cats & Dogs Gala for 2 weeks prior to the event. Items have been collected locally and from across the country. The auction is online until Thursday, September 6th. All items will be available at the live event on September 8th and YHS volunteers will bid by proxy for bidders unable to be there in person.

"We are thrilled with how generous businesses and individuals have been," said Gloria Hershman, YHS Board President. "This year's auction is truly second to none. By having the auction online, even people who can't be with us on September 8th can still support the animals. Last year we sent items to winning bidders all over the country."

Many one of a kind items are being offered including a trip to the 2012 CMA awards in Nashville, a signed Jersey and football from the Atlanta Falcons football team, trips to Enchantment Resort in Sedona and dinner for 10 in your home from Dean Herbert, executive chef at the Club at Prescott Lakes.

YHS is also creating the inaugural wall calendar, the Yava-Paw Calendar. Everyone is welcome to bid on a month to have their dog or cat professionally photographed and included in the calendar. "The calendar is the item I'm most excited about," says Missy Paschke-Wood, YHS Marketing & Development Director. "I've got family in Texas and Washington bidding on a month for my husband's cat!" The cover photo of the calendar will be in the live auction at the Reigning Cats & Dogs Gala.

Other items include jewelry, fine art paintings and prints, a woman's Stetson hat, golf foursomes, helicopter rides, spa treatments, massages and tickets to Mary Chapin Carpenter at Yavapai College, Arizona Theatre Company shows in Phoenix and Tucson, and Diamondback games.

Tickets are still available for the Reigning Cats & Dogs Gala and Auction on September 8th at the Prescott Resort. They are $100 each or a table of 10 for $900. Call (928) 445-2666 to reserve a seat by Thursday, September 6th.

The Yavapai Humane Society has been serving Yavapai County’s citizens and animals since 1972. YHS has a shelter in Prescott, a Cat Adoption Center in PetSmart, a Thrift Shop and a separate spay/neuter clinic offering low-cost spay/neuters and low-cost vaccinations. In July of 2010, we adopted a “no-kill” ethic which has led to our current live release rate of 95%, making YHS the safest shelter in Arizona.
