Local teens across the quad-city area are mourning the loss of a high school friend and classmate who died this week.
Schools are trying to help students cope with their emotions and grief by offering counseling services at the various campuses. Northpoint Director Geneva Saint-Amour, although the student did not attend her school, wrote to families today:
"... the students may continue to have feelings of sadness over the weekend, and express it in different ways to additional people - we wanted to alert you to this concern.
"Please know that if your child is expressing extreme feelings of sadness or reports a friend that is talking about extreme sadness, there are places to go for help. The local resource is West Yavapai Guidance Clinic 928-445-5211; the national hotlines are 1-800-273-TALK or 1-800- 1-800- 784-2433."
Our children are our heritage and our hope. When we lose one of them, we all grieve together.
